Project Overview

  • Darden Restaurants is a multi-brand company with over 1,800 locations across North America. Its brands include Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, and others. The company is committed to sustainability and social responsibility. Darden has run targeted marketing campaigns on social media platforms, offered promotions, and discounts to grow its customer base.
  • Darden runs marketing campaigns via social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to post engaging content and run targeted ads. The company also offers promotions and discounts, such as loyalty programs and gift card deals, to attract customers to its restaurants and maintain its position as a leading restaurant company.

Challenges

  • Having various teams on the project, it was the QA team’s responsibility to be connected with each team which proved much of a challenge in identifying, highlighting, and solving any discrepancy.

  • Ensuring compatibility with different web browsers, versions, and operating systems was the main purpose of the project because different browsers can render pages differently, leading to display issues.

  • Testing the APIs used by the web application to ensure that they function correctly and securely. This included testing the API’s ability to handle large volumes of data, handle different requests and responses, and ensured that security protocols are in place.

  • User acceptance testing was essential to ensure that the web app met the users’ expectations.

  • Marketing campaigns required testing to ensure that the campaigns were creating and running correctly.

Solution & Strategy

  • To overcome these challenges, our team developed a comprehensive strategy that involved manual testing and API testing.

  • We also created Test Cases for all the Epics/Stories/Tasks in TestRail.

  • We performed smoke, regression and sanity testing on different browsers and operating systems to ensure compatibility across different browsers, operating systems, and devices.

  • The QA team performed API testing to ensure that the APIs used by the web application function correctly and securely. This included testing the API’s ability to handle large volumes of data, handle different requests and responses, and ensured that security protocols are in place.

  • We conducted user acceptance testing to ensure that the app met the users’ expectations.

  • We tested the marketing campaigns across different channels, and devices to ensure that the campaigns are working as expected.
