Overview
In collaboration with 10 Chambers, our team provided Quality Assurance for the launch of their co-op heist FPS game, Den of Wolves. The project involved testing the game launch website, including both desktop and mobile versions, ensuring the seamless functionality of each game accessible from the site. Our contribution aimed to guarantee a flawless user experience for an audience familiar with ARGs (Alternate Reality Games) who enjoy deciphering clues and speculating on new releases. The highlight of the launch was the introduction of “XERO,” a hacking tool within the website that engaged users in decrypting the lore of Den of Wolves through collaborative puzzles.
Challenges
The QA process encountered several complex challenges throughout the project. These included seamlessly integrating the XERO hacking tool without compromising website functionality, coordinating the encryption of both 2D and 3D objects, and smoothly integrating elements from an upcoming game into the website without disturbing the user experience. Additionally, ensuring alignment with provided Figma designs added another layer of complexity. QA teams diligently tested the integration of the hacking tool to ensure reliability and security, validated encryption methods to protect data while preserving user experience, and closely monitored the inclusion of teaser elements to prevent information leaks. One specific challenge we encountered during testing of the DOW website was verifying various shapes to gain access to the game and executing given commands in the website terminal.
Solution & Strategy
To address the challenges effectively, our QA team devised and executed a multifaceted testing approach tailored to the project’s intricacies. We conducted thorough assessments across desktop and mobile platforms, ensuring compatibility across diverse devices to reach a broader user base. Each game featured on the website underwent meticulous scrutiny, allowing us to swiftly identify and rectify critical issues. A key focus was placed on validating the seamless integration of the XERO hacking tool, prioritizing functionality while preserving the overall user experience. Furthermore, we dedicated substantial effort to meticulously aligning the website with the provided Figma designs, meticulously verifying visual consistency and brand fidelity. These unique aspects of our approach enabled us to successfully navigate the project’s challenges, ultimately delivering a superior user experience.
Conclusion
Through diligent Quality Assurance, we successfully contributed to the launch of Den of Wolves, creating an immersive experience for users who appreciate ARGs. Our strategic testing approach ensured the smooth operation of the XERO hacking tool and the overall functionality of the game launch website on various devices. The project’s success was evident in the engagement of users across Discord, Reddit, Twitch, and Twitter, as well as the recognition with the FWA of the Day award upon launch. The collaboration exemplified our commitment to delivering a high-quality, glitch-free gaming experience for 10 Chambers and the enthusiastic gaming community.
