Nike – The Academy

Project Overview

  • Nike’s Academy program is aimed at male and female footballers aged between 16-20 years old. It operates in multiple countries, including UK, Spain, and Italy, and is widely recognized as a platform for young talent to develop their skills and potentially launch their professional careers.

  • The Academy has produced numerous success stories over the years, with many players going on to play at the highest levels of professional football like David AccamTom Rogic, Majeed Waris, Petar Golubovic and Kevin Salazar.

  • Nike’scommitment to developing young talent through programs like The Academy demonstrates its dedication to supporting the growth and development of athletes at all levels, from grassroots to the elite.

Challenges

  • When we were working with NIKE on the Academy project, one of the main challenges we faced was conducting a comprehensive testing to address the diverse user requirements and scenarios because the Academy had a wide range of users including athletes, coaches, and staff, each with different needs and expectations.

  • The Nike Academy software encompassed various complex functionalities such as training programs, athlete assessments, and scheduling. We faced the challenge of testing these functionalities thoroughly, including different scenarios and edge cases.

  • We faced the challenge of testing the system’s ability to handle real-time data inputs, updates, and synchronization to ensure accuracy and timeliness as Nike Academy relied on real-time data, such as live training updates or athlete performance metrics.

  • We encountered the challenge of ensuring consistent functionality, user experience, and compatibility across different platforms because Nike Academy was accessible through various platforms, including web browsers, mobile applications.

Solution & Strategy

  • To overcome the challenge of maintaining accurate and up-to-date content on the website, we created a comprehensive testing plan that involved manual testing. Our team utilized automated testing tools to ensure that all articles, images, and videos were properly formatted and displayed on the website.

  • We also formed a team of experienced testers who specialized in reviewing news and media content. They were responsible for manually reviewing each article to ensure that the information presented was accurate and up-to-date. This team also checked the images and videos to verify that they were relevant to the content of the article.

  • To manage defects effectively, we implemented a defect tracking system that allowed us to report and track defects in a centralized location. This system facilitated collaboration between developers and testers, ensuring that defects were resolved in a timely manner.

  • Overall, our comprehensive testing plan and experienced team of testers helped ensure that the Nike – The Academy website provided accurate and up-to-date content to users, enhancing the website’s overall quality and user experience.
